Let me dwell in your tent forever!

Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah (Ps 61:4)

Selah is an organization founded in 2025, aiming to provide confessional Lutherans of all ages an opportunity to pray together, study the Bible, and find rest. Rest can be found in solitude as well as fellowship, and above all, rest is found in the Lord and His word.

Selah is a Hebrew word that appears in the Bible, particularly in the book of Psalms, often at the end of a verse or chapter. It may be a musical term or a call to pause and reflect. Luther writes: I believe that this word is a punctuation mark of the Holy Spirit. Wherever we find it in the Psalter, the Holy Spirit wants us to pause and ponder; there He wants to touch and enkindle our heart for particularly deep meditation. (Luther’s works, volume 13).

The reason why we call our event a retreat is that we want to invite attendants to retract from their busy lives and to offer a Christian summer event with a less-filled timetable. There are scheduled prayers and Bible studies at the retreat, but also Selah offers free time every day, with the aim to allow for the participants to meditate on God’s word individually, hang out with old and new friends, take a nap, engage in lively conversations and spend time inside or outside. Selah is not a silent retreat although we want to meet the needs of individuals that want to have some more quiet days.

Selah is a member-based organization. By becoming a member you confirm that you support our purpose, have the right to vote at the general assembly and may be elected to be a part of the board. Membership is not required in order to attend events organized by Selah, but is needed if you want to influence the organization.
