A brief History of Selah
Selah was founded in early 2025 by an international group of confessional Lutherans who had participated in and co-organized Corpus Christi Conferences over several years. Through these shared experiences, the founders developed a desire to create a setting where Christians of all ages could step away from daily pressures and find rest through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship.
Planning for the first retreat began in January 2025, and on 27 February 2025 the organization was formally established as a Swedish non-profit association. The name Selah, drawn from the Psalms, reflects the spiritual rhythm of pausing, reflecting, and resting in God’s Word.
From the beginning, Selah has had an international character, gathering participants from several countries and building connections with Lutheran partners across the Nordic region, Europe, and beyond. The first retreat was held in the summer of 2025 and brought together believers from eight nations for several days of worship, teaching, and rest.
Selah continues to grow through annual retreats, shorter gatherings, and ongoing efforts to support Christians in prayer, study, and fellowship - always grounded in Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions.
